Hello again my odd and less odd fellows

by hanseman on Mar.01, 2009, under Okategoriserade

This time I will write in English so that my English speaking readers will have a chance to understand, not that I have any English speaking readers…

This weekend we have had the most amazing gospel festival in Gammelstad, where about 40 people from all around the world joined up with Old Town Gospel Choir to sing , surprisingly, gospel songs. It all started at 10 o’clock in the morning, the sun had already risen and the weather was perfect for a day in nature. Instead we went into the Stadsö church to practice….which was just as fun as opening christmas gifts and with very little need of regret =)

I must say that I am really impressed of all people that in 5 and a ½ hour (including lunch break) managed to learn both lyrics, voices and moves for 9 different songs, and remember that there were some of them, like Peter and Gustav, that hadn’t sung in any choir before. Denise and Wan Teng from Singapore didn’t even have any trouble with the 2 Swedish songs, and with amazingly good pronounciation! ( which, by the way, strengthen me in my opinion that Swedish is a really good and simple language to learn, way superior to English as an international language ;) )

Well, by lunchtime Ingemar, me, Hilma, Peter and Gustav went into Ingemar’s car, it was the start of a journey that took us several hundred meters to the ”Gammelstads Pizzeria” were we had… exactly, pizza! You can’t have to many pizzas, errh, well you can but this wasn’t such a day, my canibale was excellent (yes, it is a kind of morbid name, makes you wonder if they’ve used the last complaining customer as an ingredient…)

Then we headed back to the church for some more practicing and by ½ past 3 Emma and Lennart thought we were ready enough to meet the audience =) During the 2 hour break until we should meet befor the concert began, I, Viktor, Samuel, Denise and Wan Teng took a little sightseeing trip to the old church were we stepped into the middle of a wedding…I hope we didn’t spoil any of the atmosphere, but at least the girls got pictures of some typical Swedish everyday life =)

The concert was held at 6 o’clock and we started of with 3 songs performed by OTGC and then the rest of today’s special choir came in under much pomp and circumstance. From my point of view the performance was really good, close to excellent. My friends that had the opportunity to listen didn’t complain either, if it was out of politeness or not I cannot tel, but I assume the best =)

After a tremendously fika, with lots and loads of different cakes we went on to EFS were the night ended with chit-chatting, some alphabetical wordgames that Viktor introduced and, at last, a round of punishment Uno (which may sound strange to you that have never played it, but is really fun when you’ve come to know it a little=)

This is all for today folks, hope you’ve enjoyed reading it =)

Now I will leave you with some words from the most elegant and beautiful language God has given to mankind, Jamska ;)
