A Luleå Adventure – part VII

Thursday’s plans was to get into town to buy some really useful stuff, and then go home to Gustav and assemble the stuff into a not really use useful dishwasher. Mareike and I found most of what we needed at a store that I will not mention with name (but it’s widely known as a kinder garden for older men) and then we had lunch at EFS. After that we met up with Magnus and drove all the way up to Porsön with just a minor stop at another store to buy a meter of hose.
The construction of the dishwasher went kind of smooth and the result was pretty awesome =). Later that night I and Gustav relived memories from the FMC and wrote a beautiful birthday song for the birthday kids. When I came back home I got to taste some prototypes of Ingemar’s newest invention, the VegetaBalls ™, which actually tasted quite okay!

At 10.30 Wednesday morning I was at Norra Hamn to attend a prayer walk on the ice road. At 11.15 the American team and Samuel turned up.. Luckily the weather wasn’t too bad and I had some good and nice music in my ear phones, so I spent some quality time there on a bench =).
After the prayer walk we tried to find a place where we could eat some pitepalt. We were almost successful… At Järnvägsgrillen they did actually serve palt, but they only had one portion left. Luckily one portion of palt is enough to stuff two Americans, but the rest of us had to try other dishes.
I will now write something that’ll spoil the suspense on what happened on Saturday, if you feel that this might be a problem please skip the following sentences and continue by the floor ball summary.
As the plan was that so many students as possible should go to Junkön (Junk Island) on Saturday to play in the snow, barbecue and take the sauna, Samuel had to check that the ice roads were okay. As I had nothing special to do I came along together with Sarah, Mike and Mareike. It turned out that the ice roads were quite alright and we returned to Luleå alive and safe.
Later on I attended the KRIK floor ball. I feel somewhat ashamed though that I haven’t been playing anything since my last visit in November, but even so I managed to make at least one goal, and getting really tired by this intense but ever so fun game.

Tuesday I was supposed to have lunch with Susanna but as we ran into Abby, Lauren, Kacie, Frank and a couple more friends, we had lunch all together instead. The second day in a row that I ate at Centrumrestaurangen, but I won’t complain because I got to choose my own food… As always it was fun to hang out with you fun people =) After lunch, when the students had to run back to their classes, I walked the ladies (aka Kacie, Abby and Lauren) back to town. It was a nice forty minutes (or so) walk full with jumping in the snow, putting dirt in bottles and great conversations (both on South Carolina geography and more important stuff). After leaving the ladies (aka Abby, Lauren and Kacie) by the church I continued my way back home.
After having kams for dinner it was time for Men’s night at Pingstkyrkan. The Men’s night was led by Mike Bledsoe and we had really great/deep conversations/discussions. We talked for quite a while and the hours passed by until pretty late. While some guys stayed even longer to play Wii I should have gone home to bed, but instead I went to Max with Lauren, Sarah and Kacie :P They had been watching a hockey game and become Luleå fans! I hope that they someday will be enlightened and change into Modo fans ;) Among other things I will remember from this day is that it was the first time I got killed by a black belt…

For Monday I was made a great offer to follow to the ice hotel in Jukkasjärvi, but instead I choose to stay home and wash up the dishes for Ingemar. Well, if it was just for doing the wash-up I wouldn’t have stayed in Luleå, but I didn’t want to miss the choir practice with OTGC. It was a wise decision, at least in my opinion, because choir practice felt just as wonderful as always =D
In between the cleaning and the choir practice I had lunch at the university with Gustav and Peter, and then Gustav showed me the sustainable living -project that he has been involved in!

Sunday started with breakfast and a nice forty minutes walk to EFS-kyrkan where we attended service (good habits aren’t to be broken!).
After the usual church coffee we proceeded to Matstället for pizza with the folks that had been at Korskyrkan and Pingstkyrkan. As good times are supposed to this took quite a while, which might have helped our American friends to get the impression that Swedes eat all the time… Hey, don’t you go to fast food restaurants to sit for several hours over there ?! :P
After we had eaten I happened to end up in an apartment belonging to someone I had never met before, planning his birthday party. Don’t ask how this could happen, because I have a perfectly good explanation. As there isn’t much planning needed for a birthday party we soon moved on to Pingstkyrkan for a game night containing both the noble game of penalty uno and the game of mao (I’m not really sure that is the correct name, but that is how we have started to call it here in Sweden).
I think the night ended before midnight, which was quite unusual for this week…
